Glutamate receptor ionotropic, NMDA subunit 3A (GluN3A)

Target
GluN3A
Molecular classification
Ligand-gated ion channel, Ionotropic glutamate receptor
01

Overview

Glutamate receptor ionotropic, NMDA subunit 3A (GluN3A) is a subunit of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor complex. It is part of the superfamily of glutamate-regulated ion channels that play critical roles in excitatory neurotransmission within the central nervous system. Unlike conventional NMDARs, GluN1/GluN3 receptors are activated exclusively by glycine and function as ligand-gated cation channels. GluN3A modulates NMDA receptor activity during development and is implicated in synapse formation and synaptic plasticity.
