Glutathione S-transferase alpha 9, pseudogene (GSTA9P) is a non-functional genomic locus classified as a pseudogene within the glutathione S-transferase (GST) alpha gene cluster[4][5]. Unlike the functional GST alpha enzymes involved in cellular detoxification and xenobiotic conjugation, GSTA9P does not code for an active enzyme and has no known protein product or biological activity[4][5][1]. As a pseudogene, it is considered a genomic remnant related to functional GST alpha genes, but with accumulated mutations that prevent its expression or function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, has no known role in disease, and is not associated with drug interactions or utility as a biomarker.
