Overview

GRM7 antisense RNA 3 (GRM7-AS3), also known as LINC01406, is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed from the opposite strand of the GRM7 locus on chromosome 3[2][3][4]. It does not code for protein but is expressed in multiple tissues, including brain, heart, and liver. GRM7-AS3 has been implicated in gene regulatory processes, possibly affecting the expression of GRM7 or interacting with diverse RNAs/proteins[2]. Genome-wide association studies have linked genetic variation in GRM7-AS3 to depressive symptoms in older adults, and indirect links exist to neuropsychiatric disease, although the direct molecular functions and mechanisms at the disease level are still under research[4]. Currently, GRM7-AS3 is not considered a classic receptor, enzyme, or drug target, but it may be relevant as a susceptibility gene or biomarker in neuropsychiatric research[2][3][4].
