Guanine nucleotide binding protein-like 3 (nucleolar)-like pseudogene 1 (GNL3LP1) is classified as a pseudogene in humans. Pseudogenes are non-protein coding DNA sequences that share similarity with protein-coding genes but have lost their coding potential typically due to mutations or deletions. GNL3LP1 is homologous to the gene GNL3L, but is not translated into a functional protein. While some pseudogenes may be transcribed and play regulatory roles—such as acting as decoys for microRNAs or modulating the expression of their parental coding genes—there is no specific evidence that GNL3LP1 has such functions. It is not considered a therapeutic target, and there are no known drugs or clinical applications involving this pseudogene. Its aliases include FLJ12595 and GNL3LP. GNL3LP1 is a pseudogene and not an active receptor, enzyme, transporter, or signaling molecule as conventionally defined in drug discovery or molecular pharmacology. This makes it incorrect to consider it as a standard therapeutic target.
