Unlike functional HSP90 proteins, which are molecular chaperones involved in protein folding, stress response, and regulation of client proteins[1][5], HSP90B2P does not encode a functional protein and its transcripts, if any, do not have characterized biological activity in humans[4][2]. Some pseudogenes are known to regulate their parent genes at the RNA level or participate in other regulatory genetic mechanisms[8], but there is no specific evidence that HSP90B2P plays such a role. Common confusion arises from the overlap between pseudogene names and their functional paralogs (such as HSP90B1, GRP94).
