HSFY5P (heat shock transcription factor Y-linked 5, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-coding genomic DNA sequence similar to a functional gene but typically lacking the ability to encode a protein. Pseudogenes may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and, unlike their parental genes, generally do not produce functional proteins. By definition, HSFY5P itself does not encode a functional transcription factor and is not generally involved in canonical biological functions or considered a therapeutic target. While some pseudogenes can exert regulatory functions by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or affecting the expression of their parental genes, there is no published evidence that HSFY5P has such a role or is involved in human disease or drug interactions[2].
