HECT, UBA and WWE domain containing 1 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene)
01

Overview

A pseudogene is a nonfunctional genomic DNA sequence resembling a gene, generally originating from duplication or mutation of a functional gene. The HECT, UBA and WWE domain containing 1 pseudogene does not encode a functional protein, lacks therapeutic relevance, and is not an active participant in biological pathways. Pseudogenes like this are remnants in the genome, occasionally transcribed at low levels, but typically lack biological function or clinical implications[2]. They are generally not considered pharmacological or therapeutic targets. Note: This pseudogene is related by sequence to the functional gene HUWE1 (HECT, UBA and WWE domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1), which is an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein degradation, but ENSG00000260522 itself is annotated as a nonfunctional copy (pseudogene), not a protein-coding gene[1][2].
