Overview
CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are multipotent stem cells capable of self-renewal and differentiation into all mature blood cell types. They are identified and isolated by the presence of the CD34 protein on their surface. These cells are crucial for bone marrow transplantation, gene therapy, and treating various hematologic and genetic disorders. Although CD34 is a key marker, it is not exclusively expressed on HSCs, as some non-hematopoietic progenitors can also express it.
