High mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 pseudogene 34 (HMGN1P34) is a human pseudogene derived from the high mobility group nucleosome binding domain 1 (HMGN1) gene family[2][3][4][6]. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional copies of genes that resemble their ancestral parent gene but have lost the ability to code for a productive protein, often due to mutations such as frameshifts or premature stop codons[4][6]. While some pseudogenes may be transcribed into RNA and participate in gene regulation by acting as sources of noncoding RNAs, microRNA decoys, or through RNA interference pathways, there is currently no evidence that HMGN1P34 has any such functional role. Pseudogenes like HMGN1P34 do not encode functional proteins, are not considered classic therapeutic targets, and are largely studied in the context of genomics and potential regulatory effects[1][4][6].
