Overview

The HLA-A*02:01-presented HPV16 E6 29-38 peptide is a specific peptide-major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) found on the surface of cells infected with Human Papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) or HPV16-transformed malignant cells. The complex consists of the HLA-A*02:01 allele presenting a 10-amino acid epitope (TIHDIILECV) derived from the E6 oncoprotein, a primary driver of HPV-mediated oncogenesis through the degradation of the p53 tumor suppressor (PubMed: 28811044). This pMHC complex serves as a critical recognition element for the cellular immune system, specifically for CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) equipped with T-cell receptors (TCRs) specific to this epitope (NIH: NCT02858310). Because E6 is an intracellular viral protein, its fragments can only be targeted}
