HLA-DQA2 is an MHC class II alpha chain protein that forms a heterodimer with a class II beta chain. It plays a crucial role in the adaptive immune response by binding and presenting processed antigens to CD4+ T-helper cells. This interaction is essential for initiating and regulating immune responses against pathogens and self-antigens. Its expression is primarily found on antigen-presenting cells such as B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages. Heightened expression may correlate with reduced susceptibility to certain infections.
