HLA complex group 14 (HCG14) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region on chromosome 6. It is not a classical protein-coding therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme, but instead functions as a non-coding RNA involved in genetic regulation. Recent research shows HCG14 is associated with celiac disease, acting independently of classical HLA-DR-DQ risk loci. HCG14 appears to regulate the expression of NOD1 in intestinal epithelial cells and may contribute to disease predisposition through this regulatory activity[1][2][3][4][5][9][10].
