HLA complex group 27 (HCG27) is a long non-coding RNA gene (lncRNA) found within the HLA class I region of the human genome[4]. It does not encode a protein and is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical drug target. Its alternative names reflect various database annotations and clone IDs. While the HLA region is densely packed with immune-related genes including classical HLA-B27 protein-coding alleles—well-known for their association with disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis—the HCG27 lncRNA itself is not known to have a direct biological function, disease role, or utility as a therapeutic target[4]. There is no evidence for direct drug interaction, mechanism of drug action, or use as a biomarker. HCG27 should not be confused with HLA-B27, which is a major MHC class I protein receptor implicated in immune recognition and multiple diseases[1][2][3].
