Overview

The HLA-A*02:01–human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) peptide complex is a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule (HLA-A*02:01) presenting an epitope derived from the hTERT protein (Source: NIH). hTERT is the catalytic subunit of telomerase, an enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length, which is reactivated in approximately 85-90% of all human cancers to enable replicative immortality (Source: MDPI). Because hTERT is minimally expressed in most normal adult somatic tissues, the HLA-A*02:01–hTERT complex serves as a highly specific tumor-associated antigen (TAA) for immunotherapy (Source: ResearchGate).
