Overview
HLA-A*02 is a specific allele group within the HLA-A locus, encoding a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule. It presents intracellular peptides to CD8+ T lymphocytes, playing a crucial role in immune surveillance. HLA-A*02 is expressed on nearly all nucleated cells and is critical for tissue compatibility testing in organ transplantation.
