Immune system desensitization via controlled allergen exposure (AIT) is a therapeutic approach that aims to reduce or eliminate allergic reactions by gradually exposing the immune system to increasing doses of specific allergens. This process induces long-term tolerance by modulating B and T cell responses, suppressing mast cell and basophil activation, and shifting the antibody profile from IgE to IgG4.
