Immune system modulation via cytokine secretion refers to the regulation of immune responses through the controlled release of cytokines—soluble proteins that mediate and regulate immunity, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. Cytokines are secreted by a variety of cells, including immune cells (macrophages, lymphocytes, dendritic cells), as well as non-immune cells such as epithelial and endothelial cells.
