IGHEP2 (Immunoglobulin heavy constant epsilon P2) is a pseudogene located in the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus of the human genome. It is genetically related to the functional immunoglobulin epsilon gene (which encodes the heavy chain constant region of IgE), but IGHEP2 has undergone several deletions and mutations that prevent it from encoding a functional protein[2][4]. It lacks crucial exons and regulatory sequences necessary for proper expression and splicing, rendering it nonfunctional as an antibody or receptor component[2][4][3]. Although classified within the immunoglobulin gene family, there is no evidence that IGHEP2 plays a role in immunity, disease, or therapeutic targeting[9][7].
