Immunoglobulin heavy variable (III)-25-1 pseudogene (IGHVIII-25-1)

Immunoglobulin heavy variable (III)-25-1, abbreviated as IGHVIII-25-1, is a pseudogene in the variable region gene cluster of the human immunoglobulin heavy chain locus. Pseudogenes are genes that resemble known genes but are non-functional due to mutations, truncations, or other sequence disruptions that prevent protein expression. IGHVIII-25-1 does not contribute to the functional diversity of immunoglobulin molecules and is not involved in immune system function, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic targeting. Functional IGHV gene segments undergo somatic recombination to form the variable region of antibody heavy chains, critical for antigen recognition, but pseudogenes like IGHVIII-25-1 are silent and do not participate in these processes.
