Target intelligence / Profile preview
Immunoglobulin heavy variable (III)-26-1 is a human pseudogene belonging to the immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region family. Unlike functional immunoglobulin variable region genes—which encode the variable domains of immunoglobulin heavy chains (critical for antigen recognition in antibodies)[1][5][6]—IGHVIII-26-1 does not encode a functional protein and is not expressed in B lymphocytes or incorporated into mature immunoglobulins. The immunoglobulin heavy chain locus (IGH) contains multiple variable, diversity, and joining gene segments (V, D, J), some of which are functional and some pseudogenes. IGHVIII-26-1 is among the latter and contributes no direct function to antibody generation or immune response[2][4][6]. The main evidence supporting pseudogene status comes from genomic databases (GeneCards, Merck Millipore)[2][4] and immunogenetics reference tables[6], which list IGHVIII-26-1 as "pseudogene" (often with the suffix P, e.g. 3-26.1P), and do not associate it with any functional immunoglobulin heavy chain protein. No drugs, biomarkers, or therapeutic relevance are tied to IGHVIII-26-1. If a therapeutic or research context refers to IGHVIII-26-1 as a protein target, this would be scientifically incorrect.
Null (no mechanism because there are no interacting drugs)
