Immunoglobulin kappa variable 2D-23 (IGKV2D-23) is a human immunoglobulin pseudogene within the kappa light chain variable region locus of chromosome 2p11.2. It belongs to a large family of variable region genes responsible for antigen recognition in functional immunoglobulins, but IGKV2D-23 itself does not encode a functional protein and is categorized as a pseudogene. While functional immunoglobulin kappa variable domains contribute to the diversity of antibodies produced by B lymphocytes, IGKV2D-23 lacks a coding capacity and does not participate in immune functions, disease processes, or serve as a drug target. The nomenclature "2D-23" designates its location in the distal (D) segmental duplication region of the IGK locus, which is rich in both functional and pseudogene members.
