Immunoglobulin kappa variable 3-7 (IGKV3-7) is a non-functional open reading frame (ORF) within the variable region (V region) of the immunoglobulin kappa light chain locus. It is predicted to be involved in the genetic architecture of immune response by providing a potential V domain sequence used in V(D)J recombination, but due to alterations in recombination/splicing sites or conserved amino acid changes, it does not produce a functional immunoglobulin light chain. As such, IGKV3-7 does not contribute directly to antigen binding or immune receptor function[2][4][5]. It is classified as a variable gene segment in the immunoglobulin family but is not expressed as a functional antibody component. IGKV3-7 is not considered a therapeutic target and has no direct disease associations or drug interactions.
