Immunoglobulin kappa variable 6D-41 (non-functional) is a predicted protein of the variable region of the immunoglobulin kappa light chain, belonging to the immunoglobulin light chain family of antibodies[1][4]. This gene segment is classified as a probable non-functional open reading frame (ORF), meaning it does not generally generate a productive immunoglobulin chain due to alterations in V-(D)-J recombination or splicing, and/or conserved amino acid changes[1]. Immunoglobulin light chains, including kappa and lambda chains, are essential components of antibodies that contribute to antigen specificity in humoral immunity[3]. However, the IGKV6D-41 variant is not believed to yield a functional kappa light chain, and thus does not constitute a direct therapeutic or validated biomarker target. IGKV6D-41 is localized to the immunoglobulin kappa locus on chromosome 2p11.2 and is recognized in genetic and immunogenetic nomenclature authorities[1][4].
