IGLC4 (immunoglobulin lambda constant 4) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome, located within the immunoglobulin lambda locus on chromosome 22[2][3][4]. It is not expressed as a protein and thus does not participate in the biological activities typically associated with immunoglobulin light chain genes, such as antigen binding or immune response[2][4]. Functionally significant immunoglobulin lambda constant genes include IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, and IGLC7, while IGLC4, along with IGLC5 and IGLC6, are considered non-functional pseudogenes in humans[2][4]. IGLC4 cannot be considered a therapeutic target or biological receptor, and it plays no direct role in disease, drug interaction, or patient selection. Its presence reflects the evolutionary history of the immunoglobulin gene family, which contains both functional genes and nonfunctional pseudogenes[2][4].
