Immunoglobulin lambda variable (IV)-59 (IGLVIV-59) is a pseudogene within the immunoglobulin lambda light chain variable region gene family on chromosome 22. Immunoglobulin variable (V) region gene segments, including functional genes and pseudogenes, provide the raw genetic material for the diversity of antigen-binding sites in antibodies. However, as a pseudogene, IGLVIV-59 does not encode a functional protein product and is not transcribed into a complete immunoglobulin light chain.
