Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-4 (IGLV3-4) is a human pseudogene found within the immunoglobulin lambda locus, encoding a non-functional variable domain of antibody light chains. Pseudogenes such as IGLV3-4 arise due to evolutionary gene duplication and mutation events; while other immunoglobulin variable genes contribute to adaptive immune responses via antigen recognition and antibody diversity, pseudogenes do not produce functional protein products and are not relevant to immunological function or disease as direct targets. IGLV3-4 should not be confused with functional immunoglobulin variable genes (such as IGLV4-3), which do encode variable regions of functional antibody light chains involved in antigen recognition and immune defense. IGLV3-4 is properly annotated as a pseudogene and is not a druggable molecular target.
