Overview

Influenza A virus (H1N1) antigens, primarily hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), are essential determinants of infectivity and immunity. Their structure includes defined variable regions targeted by neutralizing antibodies. Rapid evolution through drift/shift enables evasion from pre-existing immunity leading to recurring outbreaks. Mechanism of action

Oseltamivir and Zanamivir inhibit neuraminidase activity, preventing the release of new virions. Amantadine and Rimantadine inhibit the M2 protein, preventing viral uncoating. Baloxavir marboxil inhibits the cap-dependent endonuclease, preventing viral RNA replication.
