An influenza virus-infected cell targeted for destruction through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). Antibodies bind to viral antigens (Hemagglutinin (HA), Neuraminidase (NA), M2 ectodomain) expressed on the surface of infected cells. Effector immune cells (NK cells, monocytes, neutrophils) recognize these antibodies via their Fc receptors and mediate lysis of the infected cell, contributing to protective immunity. ADCC-mediating antibodies often display greater breadth than classic neutralizing Abs because they frequently target conserved regions.
