Influenza Virus Internal Protein (Conserved Epitope)

Molecular classification
Viral Protein, Structural Protein, Non-structural Protein, Polymerase, Ribonucleoprotein
01

Overview

The influenza virus contains several internal proteins that are highly conserved across different strains and subtypes. These internal proteins include nucleoprotein (NP), matrix protein 1 (M1), non-structural proteins (NS1, NEP/NS2), and the polymerase complex components (PB1, PB2, PA). Conserved epitopes on these internal proteins are recognized primarily by cytotoxic T lymphocytes rather than neutralizing antibodies. These epitopes elicit cross-reactive cellular immune responses that can provide broad protection against diverse influenza strains.
