Overview

Inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase 2 (IMPDH2) is an enzyme that catalyzes the NAD-dependent oxidation of inosine-5'-monophosphate (IMP) to xanthosine-5'-monophosphate (XMP), a key step in guanine nucleotide synthesis. It is essential for maintaining cellular pools of guanine nucleotides required for DNA and RNA synthesis, signal transduction, and energy transfer. IMPDH2 is upregulated in some neoplasms and is a target for immunosuppressive and anticancer agents.
