Overview

The insulin receptor substrate 3, pseudogene (IRS3P) is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene, meaning it shares sequence similarity with the insulin receptor substrate 3 (IRS3) gene but does not produce a functional protein product. IRS3P lacks the capability to participate in insulin receptor signaling, carbohydrate or lipid metabolism, or cellular signaling relevant to diabetes or other metabolic diseases[3]. Unlike functional IRS proteins (such as IRS-1, IRS-2, IRS-3, and IRS-4), which act as cytoplasmic adaptor proteins linking the insulin receptor to downstream signaling cascades (notably the PI3K/Akt pathway and MAP kinase pathways)[1][2], IRS3P has no described biological activity, therapeutic targeting, or disease involvement. It is not a valid molecular target.
