Integrin, alpha X pseudogene refers to a nonfunctional DNA sequence that is similar to the functional ITGAX (integrin alpha X) gene but does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes like this arise by gene duplication or retrotransposition processes and typically lack regulatory elements or contain mutations that prevent proper transcription or translation. As a result, these sequences do not have biological activity and are not considered therapeutic targets. Most pseudogenes are regarded as "junk DNA," though a subset may have regulatory RNA roles in rare cases[3][1].
