Overview

Interferon alpha 20, pseudogene (IFNA20P) is a human pseudogene corresponding to the interferon alpha gene family. It does not code for a functional protein and is not implicated in biological functions, disease roles, or therapeutic interventions[1][4][5]. As a pseudogene, IFNA20P typically arises from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and has lost its ability to encode an active protein through accumulation of disruptive mutations. Genes in the interferon alpha family are normally involved in antiviral immune responses, but pseudogenes like IFNA20P are generally non-functional remnants.
