Interleukin-15 receptor subunit alpha isoform 1 (IL15RA)

Target
IL15RA
Molecular classification
Receptor, Cytokine Receptor, Type I cytokine receptor
01

Overview

Interleukin-15 receptor alpha subunit isoform 1 is a component of the interleukin-15 (IL-15) receptor complex. It plays a critical role in immune system regulation by binding IL-15 with very high affinity and presenting it to other cells for signaling. The receptor complex consists of IL-2/IL-15Rβ (CD122), common γ chain (CD132), and the unique α-chain: IL‑15Rα. The α-chain confers high-affinity binding to IL‑15 and contains an extracellular Sushi domain essential for ligand interaction. Soluble forms of IL-15Rα are being explored therapeutically for autoimmune diseases or transplant rejection prevention.
