Iron, in its ferrous form (Fe²⁺), is an essential mineral and a key biological target involved in oxygen transport, cellular respiration, and numerous enzymatic processes. It is commonly administered as ferrous salts (e.g., ferrous sulfate) to treat or prevent iron deficiency anemia.
