Overview

ΔN-JARID2 (JARID2 divergent transcript) is a truncated isoform of JARID2 lacking its N-terminal PRC2-interacting domain. In certain lineage-committed cells, such as human keratinocytes, this variant predominates and cannot bind EZH2 or stimulate PRC2 activity, unlike the full-length protein. The ΔN-JARID2 isoform opposes Polycomb repression and is critical for activating differentiation genes. It acts as an epigenetic modulator, shifting the balance from gene repression to gene activation during cell differentiation. This isoform arises from post-translational cleavage or alternative splicing and is not recognized as a canonical drug target or receptor.
