Keratin, type I cytoskeletal 39 (KRT39)

Target
KRT39
Molecular classification
Intermediate filament protein, Type I (acidic) keratin, Cytoskeletal protein
01

Overview

Keratin, type I cytoskeletal 39 (KRT39) is a member of the type I (acidic) keratin family of intermediate filament proteins, primarily expressed in the skin and hair follicle, especially in the upper hair cuticle and cortex. It functions as a structural component, contributing to the integrity and mechanical resilience of hair and skin. KRT39 is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or classical therapeutic target, and there is currently no evidence it plays a significant role in common human diseases or is targeted by any drugs.
