Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin associated protein 5-13, pseudogene (KRTAP5-13P) is classified as a pseudogene within the keratin-associated protein gene family. Pseudogenes are gene sequences that resemble known genes but contain mutations or truncations that typically prevent them from being transcribed and translated into functional proteins. The KRTAP5-13P gene does not encode an active protein and thus serves no direct biological function. KAPs (keratin-associated proteins) are structural proteins that interact with keratin intermediate filaments, contributing to the physical properties of hair and wool, but pseudogenes such as KRTAP5-13P do not participate in these processes.
