Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor, three domains, long cytoplasmic tail, 1 (KIR3DL1) is a member of the KIR (killer-cell immunoglobulin-like receptor) family, expressed mainly on natural killer (NK) cells and some T cells. It is an inhibitory receptor with three extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a long cytoplasmic tail containing immune tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). KIR3DL1 recognizes specific HLA class I molecules and regulates NK cell function by inhibiting cytotoxic activity, playing a crucial role in innate immune surveillance and self-tolerance. Polymorphism in KIR3DL1 and its ligands influences susceptibility to and progression of cancer, infections, and immune-mediated diseases[1][2][4].
