Overview

Kinesin family member 4C, pseudogene (KIF4CP, also known as KIF4P1), is a human pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein[1][3][4][5]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but typically nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements[4]. While some pseudogenes have been found to regulate the expression of their functional gene counterparts—either by acting as miRNA decoys or by generating regulatory RNAs—there is no evidence in public databases that KIF4CP plays such roles[2][4]. As such, KIF4CP is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker, and it has no documented interaction with drugs. It is retained in genome annotations primarily as a homolog of the functional kinesin family genes.

03

Biological functions

May have regulatory functions at the RNA level (consistent with some pseudogenes), but KIF4CP itself has no documented protein-coding or canonical biological function
04

Disease associations

No direct evidence for involvement in diseaseSome pseudogenes have regulatory effects implicated in cancer or other processes, but no specific association for KIF4CP
