Peptide-MHC complexes involving EBV-encoded latent proteins—LMP1, LMP2, and EBNA1—present immunodominant viral epitopes on HLA class I or II molecules, enabling recognition by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and making them key immunological targets for therapies in EBV-associated diseases. These targets form the molecular basis for T cell-based and antibody-based immunotherapies, and their immunogenicity and disease selectivity make them appealing in cancers such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and B cell lymphomas.
