Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor, subfamily A member pseudogene

Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Immunoglobulin superfamily (by homology to other LILR family members)
01

Overview

Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor, subfamily A member pseudogene (ENSG00000276758) is a human pseudogene that shares sequence homology with members of the LILR family but is unable to produce a functional protein product[1][2][3][4]. The LILR family encodes cell-surface receptors involved in immune regulation, but pseudogenes like ENSG00000276758 are genetic remnants, usually nonfunctional. Pseudogenes can sometimes be transcribed into RNA and in rare cases influence gene regulation, though this is not established for this specific pseudogene[4][6][8][10]. As it lacks protein-coding function, it is not recognized as a drug or therapeutic target nor involved in disease pathways or biomarker applications[1][2][4][8]. Its primary scientific value is in evolutionary studies and understanding genome structure.
