Overview

Lin-7 homolog B (LIN7B) is a member of the Lin-7/Velis/MALS family of polarity scaffold proteins first identified in _Caenorhabditis elegans_. LIN7B is a small PDZ-domain containing protein essential for assembling and maintaining the asymmetric distribution of receptors and ion channels in polarized cells[1][2][3]. It acts as a molecular scaffold, interacting with membrane proteins and other scaffold proteins (such as CASK) through its PDZ and L27 domains to form multiprotein complexes involved in basolateral membrane protein targeting[1][2][3]. In neurons, LIN7B is important for the trafficking and localization of NMDA receptors at synapses and may couple synaptic vesicle exocytosis to cell adhesion machinery[3]. This protein is not a direct drug target, receptor, transporter, or enzyme, but rather a structural organizer critical for proper membrane protein localization and signal transduction in neurons and epithelial cells[1][2][3]. Note: "lin-7 cell polarity scaffold B" refers to a protein family member rather than a therapeutic target; the correct molecular entity is "Lin-7 homolog B (LIN7B)".
