LncKdm2b (also referred to as KDM2B divergent transcript, KDM2B-DT, or Kancr) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense and upstream of the KDM2B gene from a bidirectional promoter[1][3]. It is transiently expressed during the early differentiation of cortical projection neurons and acts in cis to positively regulate the expression of KDM2B by facilitating a chromatin environment favorable to transcription, partly through association with the RNA-binding protein hnRNPAB[1][3]. Both LncKdm2b and KDM2B are important for proper differentiation and migration of cortical neurons in the developing brain. Unlike classical protein-coding drug targets, LncKdm2b is not currently considered a therapeutic target but plays an important regulatory role in neurodevelopment[1][3].
