Overview

Local tissue targeted by chemical cauterization refers to abnormal or excessive tissue growth, such as granulation tissue or warts, that is removed by applying caustic chemical agents. This process induces controlled chemical burns, leading to coagulative necrosis and eschar formation, which promotes normal wound healing by removing barriers to closure and regeneration. The most common agent is silver nitrate.
