LSM3 homolog, U6 small nuclear RNA associated pseudogene (ENSG00000232296) is a pseudogene related to LSM3, a gene encoding a protein involved in the formation and stability of the U6 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP), a component of the spliceosome complex essential for pre-mRNA splicing. As a pseudogene, this locus does not encode a functional protein and is not known to participate in cellular function, disease processes, or serve as a therapeutic target. The function of the parent LSM3 protein is to associate with U6 snRNA along with other LSM (Like Sm) family proteins, but the pseudogene itself reflects a non-functional, often non-coding genomic element retained from evolutionary duplications or retrotransposition events.
