MACROD2 intronic transcript 1 (MACROD2-IT1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on human chromosome 20 (chr20:14554384-14636524, hg38), transcribed from an intronic region of the MACROD2 gene[2][5]. It does not encode a protein but is classified among non-protein coding RNAs, which can play a role in regulating gene expression, chromatin structure, and epigenetic processes[3][6]. The detailed function of MACROD2-IT1 specifically remains uncharacterized in the current scientific literature, but by analogy to other lncRNAs, it may participate in transcriptional and epigenetic regulation. There is currently no evidence that MACROD2-IT1 is a direct drug target, biomarker, or associated with specific diseases. Its biological and clinical significance is not yet established beyond its annotation as a non-coding transcript within the MACROD2 locus[2][5].
