Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) (MHC)

Target
MHC
Molecular classification
Receptor, Cell Surface Protein, MHC Class I, MHC Class II
01

Overview

Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) proteins are cell surface molecules that bind and present peptide antigens to T lymphocytes, playing a crucial role in initiating adaptive immune responses. MHC Class I presents intracellular antigens to CD8+ T cells, while MHC Class II presents extracellular antigens to CD4+ T cells. In cancer, MHC molecules present tumor-associated antigens, enabling T-cell recognition and destruction of tumor cells. Dysregulation of MHC expression or antigen processing is a common mechanism of immune evasion in cancer, making MHC a key target for immunotherapy.

Mechanism of action

Enhancing or restoring antigen presentation pathways, blocking immune checkpoints to reinvigorate T-cell responses against tumor cells presenting tumor antigens via MHC, engineering T-cells to recognize tumor antigen-MHC complexes.
