MAPK6 divergent transcript (MAPK6-DT), also known as lncMAPK6, is a long noncoding RNA that originates from the divergent promoter region upstream of the MAPK6 gene. It is overexpressed in liver cancer and plays a key role in promoting the self-renewal of liver tumor-initiating cells and tumor propagation. Mechanistically, lncMAPK6 interacts with the MAPK6 promoter, recruits RNA polymerase II, and activates MAPK6 transcription, thereby driving MAPK signaling and contributing to oncogenic processes in the liver. Its overexpression is linked to poorer prognosis in liver cancer, highlighting its potential as both a biomarker and a therapeutic target, though no direct targeting agents are yet described.
