Metallothionein-like 3, pseudogene (MTL3P) is a non-functional pseudogene related to the metallothionein family, a group of genes encoding small, cysteine-rich proteins involved in metal ion binding, detoxification, and oxidative stress protection. However, as a pseudogene, MTL3P does not produce a functional protein and is not known to participate in cellular biological processes or disease mechanisms. It is not a drug target or therapeutic receptor, and there are no known clinical implications or pharmacological interactions associated with MTL3P. Metallothionein family genes (such as MT1-4) are functional and implicated in metal detoxification and oxidative stress, but MTL3P is not among these functional segments. There is no evidence for its physiological, pathological, or therapeutic relevance. Aliases reflect its pseudogene status; no alternate functional protein or receptor names are commonly used. Search results and current genomic databases support its pseudogene classification, and there is no indication of diagnostic or therapeutic significance.
